Insurance FAQs

Do you accept insurance?

I do not bill insurance directly.

However, all or part of your services may qualify for reimbursement through your individual insurance plan. If you desire to utilize your insurance benefits, I can provide a receipt (or Super Bill) for you to submit to your provider for possible out-of-network services reimbursement.

Why don’t you bill directly?

Whether or not to accept insurance is a choice each provider makes on their own. Working with insurance providers can mean increased paperwork, time and some practice restrictions for therapists that may impact the overall quality of the service being provided. Many clients also prefer the greater privacy and confidentiality of the self-pay model.

How do I ask my insurance company about out-of-network reimbursement?

The following questions may be useful when speaking with your insurance plan representative:

  • Do I have outpatient mental health insurance benefits?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • May I only work with a provider approved by my plan or can I find my own and submit receipts for reimbursement?

  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
